IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

STATE CHAMPIONSHIP 2020

CANCELLED

Due to the current COVID 19 Pandemic it is with deep regret that Off Road NSW have made the decision to cancel the 2020 NSW State Off Road Championship.

The cancellation of the 2020 NSW State Off Road Championship is in line with the cancellation of other major events across the Nation and worldwide, with the aim to limit the spread of COVID 19.

This is not a decision that was made lightly, but after much deliberation and consultation by Off Road NSW Panel Members.

To assist any NSW Club that is still in a position where they are able to hold an event in 2020, although the Championship is cancelled, Off Road NSW will be making a financial contribution to assist each club with the additional COVID 19 measures that are required to be put in place to minimise the burden.

The health and safety of our competitors, volunteers & spectators is our number one priority.

I take the opportunity to include all of you in the sentiment that NSW State Off Road Championship will return bigger, better and safer in 2021.

For any further information please contact your local Off Road NSW Panel Member.

Yours sincerely,

Off Road NSW

The Warialda Motorsports Club have today announced that due to the prolonged drought conditions throughout the region and the eastern states, and with no rain on the radar, the club and landowner have taken the difficult decision to cancel the 2018 Hunter Rivmaster Warialda Offroad 200, scheduled for 15th & 16th September 2018.

The  decision was made last nigth - Friday - at the club meeting; the early decision giving competitors reasonable notice to cancel their travel plans and to make other racing plans.

“We have made this decision in the best interest of the landholders, competitors and the club.”

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our sponsors, the landholders and our supporters.”

“We hope to see you all for the next Hunter Rivmasta Warialda Offroad 200.”

MARTIN WINS MMC

Reigning BFGoodrich CAMS Australian Off Road Champion Matt Martin has returned to his brilliant 2017 form to take out the annual Milbrodale Mountain Classic Off Road Racing Event. Hosted by the Hunter Valley Off Road Racing Association, more than 50 local and interstate competitors took part in the prestigious off road event.

From the start, Martin was in front and after the first heat, had already built a solid lead to just under a minute ahead of Mat Huxley, before using the next two heats to go further in front. Huxley was able to stay in touch though, coming second in every heat, before falling short of winning his first heat after Michael Denham, who eventually finished third outright, won the fourth and final heat. Both Huxley and Denham also won their respective classes in the Pro buggy and Extreme 2WD classes respectively, while Denham was also awarded the Tin Top Award. In other classes, Richard Wilton won the Super 1650 Buggy award while finishing seventh outright, Joshua Nurrish claimed ninth outright along with the Extreme 4WD class, Gavin Sheppard took out the Sportsman Buggy class, Drew Corcoran the Production 4WD class and Greg Barron the Sportsman Buggy class. The entertaining SXS battles saw Kevin Cant win the Sports class and Glen Ackroyd win the Turbo class, while Martin won the Prolite buggy class with navigator Kerry Martin who also was awarded the best female navigator, an award shared with Jessica Denham. Claiming the fastest lap time on the longest course, Justin Guy was awarded the coveted ‘Man of the Mountain’ award, while Kristy Hedley won the Best Female Driver. Other accolades to be presented were the Nigel Beeston Memorial Award to Rikki Headley and the best-presented vehicle, which was given Joshua Nurrish.

CnC Racing WIN KEMPSEY 200

Chris Browning and Glen Scott have piloted the #131 Alumicraft to the top of the podium in a dusty 2017 Jim Anderson Earthmoving Kempsey 250 at Wittitrin. Browning drove a planned race from start of the weekend, letting the hard charging #19 Pro Buggy of Huxley and early pace setters of #622 Dullard and #635 Kenah jostle for early race positions before moving into 2nd place in Saturdays section.

Fast forward to Sunday morning, Huxley was pushing hard and lead the field away in the day's first section but as the dust from lap traffic began to take its toll on the Pro Buggy driver it was visible that Browning in the Nissan powered Prolite was starting to make his charge. Huxley caught a group of lap traffic and faulted momentarily allowing Browning to ascend to first on the road. Meanwhile the #635 Can-Am of Kenah also had plans and had been making their way methodically through the traffic, they were on the way to pressure Huxley as well. Unfortunately for Kenah tyre contact with Huxley was enough to pick his wheel up resulting in a bent arm and a roll onto the side, ending his weekend. Sunday's first section finished with Browning, Huxley and the #217 of Brad Bishop in 3rd. Bishop had a threat to also contend with in the form of 4th overall #211 Scott Brown whom he was having a fierce class battle with for Super 1650 honours.

Sunday Section 2 was another leg that went to plan for Browning as he drove faultless to the victory. Huxley however was still to have some excitement in store, whilst traveling at speed in one of the faster parts of track referred to as "The Airstrip" he suffered a failure on a rear arm pivot box that resulted in a roll over and damage that would finish his day. Bishop who had been struggling with clutch issues was unable to profit from Huxley's loss as he to was forced to retire.

The 2nd and 3rd outright positions were once again on the table. #211 Brown and the ever reliable defending champion of #18 Glen Hoffman decided these positions had their names on them and capitalised where others had been unable to get the job done.

Congratulations to all finishers and those who attempted the 2017 Jim Anderson Earthmoving Kempsey 250 at Wittitrin and our winners for 2017 Chris Browning and Glen Scott #131

HUXLEY DOMINATES DAY 1 KEMPSEY 200

Mat Huxley #19 has dominated the field at the 2017 Jim Anderson Kempsey 250 at Wittitrin today with a solid performance in both the prologue and "Dallas's Dash" Top 10 Shootout. Leading the field away in pole position he set about making dust and dust there was. Joel Dullard driving the #622 Can-Am put in a serious effort to run with Huxley and was comfortably commanding 2nd on the road as they pushed through the lap traffic until a roll over in the arena whilst passing a slower car in the dust. Browning #131 meanwhile was finding his way around Wittitrin again after last competing at the event in Sportsman class, Chris was winding the wick up on the Alumicraft and pushed into 2nd outright. Kenah in the #635 Can-Am is driving a calculated race and holding down third at the finish of Saturday's racing.
Can Browning hunt down 1st place or will Huxley continue the onslaught tomorrow? A serious battle is guaranteed for sure!

GUY TAKES OUT 3 IN A ROW

Justin Guy and Eric Hume #919 win Dondingalong Off road Challenge for the third time in a row.
With a great weekend of close racing, with mixed conditions. Having a dry track and great weather on Saturday to a very very wet day racing in the rain all day Sunday. Driver and Navigators were pushed to the limits working with the poor vision in the mud to complete the weekends racing.

Guy was dominate from the start but had Peter Carr and Matt Wyndham #698 close behind in the super-lite, with Glen Hoffman #18 also not far behind.

With the several driver having issues with water and electrical dramas the field had a lot of changes of potions over Sunday racing.Once it all played out, we found Justin Guy still on top of Hoffman by 1min 51sec with Scott Muma #1020 only 14sec behind Hoffman to complete the podium.

Kempsey Macleay Off Road Club would like to Thanks all competitors and Crews for a great weekend of racing and also all our members for helping making the Scott's Hydraulic Services Dondingalong Off Road Challenge another great event for 2017.

ARB Griffith 400 has been run and won ,Danny Brown and George Apted taking outright honours.

Brown started the day out of second place, following prologue pace setters Jack Rhodes and David Pullino until the 8km mark on the first lap when Rhodes was stopped.

Second outright were Dale Martin and Adrian Rowe
Andrew Mowles third outright, with local Griffith navigator Dean Meginley .
The Sam Egan, Adam Gilkinson #188 had a consistent run to take fourth outright ahead of Troy Duff and Daniel Mansfield #128

Towers Wins COLO

Glen Towers and Josh Harris #80 have opened their 2016 CAMS New South Wales Off Road Championship campaign with a dominant 4min 34 second victory at Colo Park over the 24 car field on the weekend. Towers prologued first and after trailing Michael Spokes #116 by 8 seconds after the first 2 heats, an unfortunate Spokes withdrawal due to mechanical dramas gave Towers a comfortable break.

Beginning Sunday morning’s ten lapper just under 3 minutes in front, the brutal Brenthel recorded race wins in heat 4 and 5 for the perfect start to 2016. It was an impressive drive by Towers and Harris piloting the tight, rutted and dusty 7km Colo track without any problems, turning it on for the spectators who stood in awe as Towers full noise threw his car sideways into the corners behind the canteen!

Last weekend was not only round 1 of the CAMS New South Wales Off Road Championship, but also Round 1 of the Offroad Warehouse SCOR Masters claimed by Towers and Harris. Josh Howells and Shane Szkoruda #115 in their Southern Cross Prolite machine were the big improvers over the weekend, starting race 1 from ninth position Howells made light work of the Colo track jolting up into second outright overnight. A consistent drive from the young local crew on Sunday, who made early inroads into Tower’s lead, until settling into a rhythm, ensured them second outright and first in the ProLite class for their respective championships.

A further 1min 41 secs arrear of Howells was Wayne Murphy and Gordon Triggs #85 in their Penhall MadFab Pro buggy. Murphy, who prologued tenth outright, became more accustomed to his machine over the course of the weekend. They started day two in fourth position and after an early Sunday withdrawal of Justin Guy #19 and their own loss of third gear and alternator failure late in race 5, they crossed in third outright and second in class.

Defending New South Wales Champion Derek Rose #179 ran his Southern Cross Super 1650 machine as a single seater ProLite and was defending a third outright in 2015. Wheelie fell just short in 2016 finishing in fourth outright and second in class, a huge jump from finishing 12th in prologue, a great result considering the difference in horse power to his nearest rivals.

Warren Barron, Teagan Barron and Mitchell Evans #258 were the fifth car home and a very well deserved first in Super 1650 class. Starting day two in seventh place, Warren found his groove in tough Colo conditions finding the new transmission change to his liking banking some valuable championship points.

Murray Bignell #996 powered his Chev powered buggy into sixth outright and third in the Pro class, a consistent performance from the ‘Farmer’ who was over the moon with his race finish at a tough track. Following Bignell home was the #985 of Peter Sowter in seventh position; he was supported by grandson Matt Turner who drove the ten lapper Sunday morning. The Extreme 4WD class was taken out by veteran Lucky and daughter Angela Mattiussi #831 in their International Scout, finishing eighth outright their reward for finishing full distance.

Newcomers to the sport Daniel Jandera and Suzy Badawi #308 were the final car to complete full race distance in ninth position; doing so taking home the silverware for the Sportsman’s class. Rounding out the top 10 was Nathan and Les Chivers who dropped a lap late Saturday afternoon but repaired and put in blistering times Sunday to win the SuperLite class after prologuing third outright.

Drew Corcoran and Tony Nikora #777 took home the Production 4WD class in their Blue Pajero, by only dropping one lap they finished 11th outright, dropping a few places from their overnight position of sixth.

Phil Lovett #666 in his debut to offroading claimed second in the SuperLite class in his Can-am, whilst Tamworth based Adam Swindale and Casey McGregor #612 took home third after a weekend of mechanical issues after showing early pace. Greg Barron #312 started day 2 from ninth place and after blowing a clutch on late in the ten lapper, they replaced and finished strong finishing 14th outright and second in class.

Mark Cowie and Brett Blackshaw #247 were struck with belt issues all weekend ending their hopes of a race finish, taking home second in the Super 1650 class and 16th outright. Other casualties were Brian Duck #95 after prologuing fourth with mechanical issues and Anthony Lia#220 with gearbox dramas.

For the Offroad Warehouse SCOR Masters the top five outright were same as CAMS New South Wales Off Road Championship however as the SCOR Masters was on the first five laps of the ten lap heat, which included the multi club competitors sixth place was scored by Glenn Hoffman #18 who had a troublesome weekend with electrical dramas, seventh to Drew Corcoran #777, eighth Peter Sowter, ninth Murray Bignell and tenth place went to Greg Barron #312.

The multi club round was won by locals David and Daniel Nikiforoff #190 on time over second place Vern Wakefield and Joshua Irons #260, Mathew Nikiforoff and Karl Neil #390 claimed third after suffering an early mechanical letdown after the first two races whilst fourth place went to Wayne Cains and Bruce Morrison.

The CAMS New South Wales Off Road Championship now moves their attention onto Griffith for round 2 next month, the ARB Griffith 400.

20 years of great racing in Crookwell, comes to an end.

The Crookwell Off Road Club has been advised that the land on which the Gravel Pit Challenge and the Ray Vestey Memorial Christmas Cup are held, will be leased for specific farming purposes for an indefinite period of time starting this year (2016).
The Club will therefore not be holding any more race meetings at this venue. The Crookwell Off Road Club will continue on as normal even though we no longer have an event venue.
The organising committee would like to thank the land holders Les and Marilyn Storrier for their continued support and generosity over the last 20 years.
To all the people that have volunteered their time and money over the past 20 years, the event sponsors, race committee, recovery crews, canteen people, pit gate attendants, competitors and anyone else that I’ve forgotten to mention Thank you very much for your continual support. I hope you enjoyed our events and visiting Crookwell and surrounds.
Just remember the Crookwell Off Road Club is still operational even though we don’t have a race venue at this stage.
