CnC Racing WIN KEMPSEY 200

Chris Browning and Glen Scott have piloted the #131 Alumicraft to the top of the podium in a dusty 2017 Jim Anderson Earthmoving Kempsey 250 at Wittitrin. Browning drove a planned race from start of the weekend, letting the hard charging #19 Pro Buggy of Huxley and early pace setters of #622 Dullard and #635 Kenah jostle for early race positions before moving into 2nd place in Saturdays section.

Fast forward to Sunday morning, Huxley was pushing hard and lead the field away in the day's first section but as the dust from lap traffic began to take its toll on the Pro Buggy driver it was visible that Browning in the Nissan powered Prolite was starting to make his charge. Huxley caught a group of lap traffic and faulted momentarily allowing Browning to ascend to first on the road. Meanwhile the #635 Can-Am of Kenah also had plans and had been making their way methodically through the traffic, they were on the way to pressure Huxley as well. Unfortunately for Kenah tyre contact with Huxley was enough to pick his wheel up resulting in a bent arm and a roll onto the side, ending his weekend. Sunday's first section finished with Browning, Huxley and the #217 of Brad Bishop in 3rd. Bishop had a threat to also contend with in the form of 4th overall #211 Scott Brown whom he was having a fierce class battle with for Super 1650 honours.

Sunday Section 2 was another leg that went to plan for Browning as he drove faultless to the victory. Huxley however was still to have some excitement in store, whilst traveling at speed in one of the faster parts of track referred to as "The Airstrip" he suffered a failure on a rear arm pivot box that resulted in a roll over and damage that would finish his day. Bishop who had been struggling with clutch issues was unable to profit from Huxley's loss as he to was forced to retire.

The 2nd and 3rd outright positions were once again on the table. #211 Brown and the ever reliable defending champion of #18 Glen Hoffman decided these positions had their names on them and capitalised where others had been unable to get the job done.

Congratulations to all finishers and those who attempted the 2017 Jim Anderson Earthmoving Kempsey 250 at Wittitrin and our winners for 2017 Chris Browning and Glen Scott #131

HUXLEY DOMINATES DAY 1 KEMPSEY 200

Mat Huxley #19 has dominated the field at the 2017 Jim Anderson Kempsey 250 at Wittitrin today with a solid performance in both the prologue and "Dallas's Dash" Top 10 Shootout. Leading the field away in pole position he set about making dust and dust there was. Joel Dullard driving the #622 Can-Am put in a serious effort to run with Huxley and was comfortably commanding 2nd on the road as they pushed through the lap traffic until a roll over in the arena whilst passing a slower car in the dust. Browning #131 meanwhile was finding his way around Wittitrin again after last competing at the event in Sportsman class, Chris was winding the wick up on the Alumicraft and pushed into 2nd outright. Kenah in the #635 Can-Am is driving a calculated race and holding down third at the finish of Saturday's racing.
Can Browning hunt down 1st place or will Huxley continue the onslaught tomorrow? A serious battle is guaranteed for sure!

GUY TAKES OUT 3 IN A ROW

Justin Guy and Eric Hume #919 win Dondingalong Off road Challenge for the third time in a row.
With a great weekend of close racing, with mixed conditions. Having a dry track and great weather on Saturday to a very very wet day racing in the rain all day Sunday. Driver and Navigators were pushed to the limits working with the poor vision in the mud to complete the weekends racing.

Guy was dominate from the start but had Peter Carr and Matt Wyndham #698 close behind in the super-lite, with Glen Hoffman #18 also not far behind.

With the several driver having issues with water and electrical dramas the field had a lot of changes of potions over Sunday racing.Once it all played out, we found Justin Guy still on top of Hoffman by 1min 51sec with Scott Muma #1020 only 14sec behind Hoffman to complete the podium.

Kempsey Macleay Off Road Club would like to Thanks all competitors and Crews for a great weekend of racing and also all our members for helping making the Scott's Hydraulic Services Dondingalong Off Road Challenge another great event for 2017.

Danny Brown,

Take out
the Griffith 400

ARB Griffith 400 has been run and won ,Danny Brown and George Apted taking outright honours.

Brown started the day out of second place, following prologue pace setters Jack Rhodes and David Pullino until the 8km mark on the first lap when Rhodes was stopped.

Second outright were Dale Martin and Adrian Rowe
Andrew Mowles third outright, with local Griffith navigator Dean Meginley .
The Sam Egan, Adam Gilkinson #188 had a consistent run to take fourth outright ahead of Troy Duff and Daniel Mansfield #128

Results can be found here.

Towers Wins COLO

Glen Towers and Josh Harris #80 have opened their 2016 CAMS New South Wales Off Road Championship campaign with a dominant 4min 34 second victory at Colo Park over the 24 car field on the weekend. Towers prologued first and after trailing Michael Spokes #116 by 8 seconds after the first 2 heats, an unfortunate Spokes withdrawal due to mechanical dramas gave Towers a comfortable break.

Beginning Sunday morning’s ten lapper just under 3 minutes in front, the brutal Brenthel recorded race wins in heat 4 and 5 for the perfect start to 2016. It was an impressive drive by Towers and Harris piloting the tight, rutted and dusty 7km Colo track without any problems, turning it on for the spectators who stood in awe as Towers full noise threw his car sideways into the corners behind the canteen!

Last weekend was not only round 1 of the CAMS New South Wales Off Road Championship, but also Round 1 of the Offroad Warehouse SCOR Masters claimed by Towers and Harris. Josh Howells and Shane Szkoruda #115 in their Southern Cross Prolite machine were the big improvers over the weekend, starting race 1 from ninth position Howells made light work of the Colo track jolting up into second outright overnight. A consistent drive from the young local crew on Sunday, who made early inroads into Tower’s lead, until settling into a rhythm, ensured them second outright and first in the ProLite class for their respective championships.

A further 1min 41 secs arrear of Howells was Wayne Murphy and Gordon Triggs #85 in their Penhall MadFab Pro buggy. Murphy, who prologued tenth outright, became more accustomed to his machine over the course of the weekend. They started day two in fourth position and after an early Sunday withdrawal of Justin Guy #19 and their own loss of third gear and alternator failure late in race 5, they crossed in third outright and second in class.

Defending New South Wales Champion Derek Rose #179 ran his Southern Cross Super 1650 machine as a single seater ProLite and was defending a third outright in 2015. Wheelie fell just short in 2016 finishing in fourth outright and second in class, a huge jump from finishing 12th in prologue, a great result considering the difference in horse power to his nearest rivals.

Warren Barron, Teagan Barron and Mitchell Evans #258 were the fifth car home and a very well deserved first in Super 1650 class. Starting day two in seventh place, Warren found his groove in tough Colo conditions finding the new transmission change to his liking banking some valuable championship points.

Murray Bignell #996 powered his Chev powered buggy into sixth outright and third in the Pro class, a consistent performance from the ‘Farmer’ who was over the moon with his race finish at a tough track. Following Bignell home was the #985 of Peter Sowter in seventh position; he was supported by grandson Matt Turner who drove the ten lapper Sunday morning. The Extreme 4WD class was taken out by veteran Lucky and daughter Angela Mattiussi #831 in their International Scout, finishing eighth outright their reward for finishing full distance.

Newcomers to the sport Daniel Jandera and Suzy Badawi #308 were the final car to complete full race distance in ninth position; doing so taking home the silverware for the Sportsman’s class. Rounding out the top 10 was Nathan and Les Chivers who dropped a lap late Saturday afternoon but repaired and put in blistering times Sunday to win the SuperLite class after prologuing third outright.

Drew Corcoran and Tony Nikora #777 took home the Production 4WD class in their Blue Pajero, by only dropping one lap they finished 11th outright, dropping a few places from their overnight position of sixth.

Phil Lovett #666 in his debut to offroading claimed second in the SuperLite class in his Can-am, whilst Tamworth based Adam Swindale and Casey McGregor #612 took home third after a weekend of mechanical issues after showing early pace. Greg Barron #312 started day 2 from ninth place and after blowing a clutch on late in the ten lapper, they replaced and finished strong finishing 14th outright and second in class.

Mark Cowie and Brett Blackshaw #247 were struck with belt issues all weekend ending their hopes of a race finish, taking home second in the Super 1650 class and 16th outright. Other casualties were Brian Duck #95 after prologuing fourth with mechanical issues and Anthony Lia#220 with gearbox dramas.

For the Offroad Warehouse SCOR Masters the top five outright were same as CAMS New South Wales Off Road Championship however as the SCOR Masters was on the first five laps of the ten lap heat, which included the multi club competitors sixth place was scored by Glenn Hoffman #18 who had a troublesome weekend with electrical dramas, seventh to Drew Corcoran #777, eighth Peter Sowter, ninth Murray Bignell and tenth place went to Greg Barron #312.

The multi club round was won by locals David and Daniel Nikiforoff #190 on time over second place Vern Wakefield and Joshua Irons #260, Mathew Nikiforoff and Karl Neil #390 claimed third after suffering an early mechanical letdown after the first two races whilst fourth place went to Wayne Cains and Bruce Morrison.

The CAMS New South Wales Off Road Championship now moves their attention onto Griffith for round 2 next month, the ARB Griffith 400.

20 years of great racing in Crookwell, comes to an end.

The Crookwell Off Road Club has been advised that the land on which the Gravel Pit Challenge and the Ray Vestey Memorial Christmas Cup are held, will be leased for specific farming purposes for an indefinite period of time starting this year (2016).
The Club will therefore not be holding any more race meetings at this venue. The Crookwell Off Road Club will continue on as normal even though we no longer have an event venue.
The organising committee would like to thank the land holders Les and Marilyn Storrier for their continued support and generosity over the last 20 years.
To all the people that have volunteered their time and money over the past 20 years, the event sponsors, race committee, recovery crews, canteen people, pit gate attendants, competitors and anyone else that I’ve forgotten to mention Thank you very much for your continual support. I hope you enjoyed our events and visiting Crookwell and surrounds.
Just remember the Crookwell Off Road Club is still operational even though we don’t have a race venue at this stage.

THANK YOU FROM THE FAMILY OF BOB STANSFIELD

Thank you to all those attended to celebrate Bob's life and memories. The memories (and stories) in the room were coming from all. He would have had a tear in his eye, and been humbled by the attendance.

Bob was the linchpin to many people. In the Army, Off-road, Motorcycle club, family and friends, he will be a legend that will be remembered.

We will miss many things and have some great personal memories, but most of all we will miss his big heart, huge soul, and his voice. The real Bob behind the voice will not be forgotten.

He will be happy telling his stories to his old friends ‘up there’. Smoking, drinking rum, eating a hamburger with hot chips, and maybe a strawberry milkshake with his dogs by his side.

Thank you all

If you did not get the chance to write in the Memory book, please email any story, memory or recollection you have to Gavin Mickle. [email protected]

PROLITE TEAM WIN AT CROOKWELL
The Prolite Buggy Team of Kelvin Hill / Lauren Ottey (#104) secured outright victory in the 19th  Annual Gravel Pit Challenge held at Crookwell April 26/27. The #104 team had a dramatic start to the event, stopping to assist Adam Ollerton / Amanda Simpson (Pro Buggy #40) in the Prologue after the #40 caught fire on the edge of the track. As a result the #104 was seeded into the start lineup and worked steadily through the field to be running second outright to Dale Chadburn / Mal Chadburn (Pro Buggy #32) at the end of Day 1. When the Chadburn machine failed to finish lap 2 of the Final Heat on Day 2 the #112 was in the box seat, and raced to a 54 second victory over Glenn Hoffman (Pro Buggy #18) and Nathan Weissel / Ryan Flanagan (UTV #607), who were just 5 seconds adrift of the #18. JIM ANDERSON EARTHMOVING RETURNS AS DONDINGALONG OFF ROAD RACE SPONSOR

After sponsoring the Dondingalong Round of the NSW Off Road Championship in 2013, Coopernook based company Jim Anderson Earthmoving reached agreement with the Kempsey Macleay Off Road Club to once again become the naming rights sponsor for this year’s race.

The principals of Jim Anderson Earthmoving were extremely happy with the exposure and feedback they received in regard to the 2013 race, and the professional manner in which it was promoted by the Kempsey Club.

Jim Anderson Earthmoving has been operating for more than 30 years. The business has serviced the Manning & Hastings Valleys, and has expanded its operations to incorporate the Macleay Valley.

With more than 40 machines, including Dozers, Excavators, Graders, Bobcats, and Tippers at its disposal, Jim Anderson Earthmoving is capable of undertaking any building site, dam construction, land clearing, road construction, and general excavation requirements.

Kempsey Macleay Off Road Club Media Representative Rod Thurgood said the support of Jim Anderson Earthmoving was vital to ensuring the success of the Dondingalong race.

“Quite simply, our club cannot continue to provide high quality Off Road Racing in the Macleay Valley without the generous support of companies like Jim Anderson Earthmoving, so it’s great to have them back as our naming rights sponsor in 2014”.

“It goes without saying that motor racing is an expensive sport, so when a company such as Jim Anderson Earthmoving comes on board we are keen to keep them happy in order to maintain a good relationship moving forward”.

“In the case of Jim Anderson Earthmoving, they have increased their support over last year, without any prompting from our club, by providing a $500 cash prize to the outright winner at Dondingalong. This is a great indication that we, as a club, are doing the right thing by our sponsors, and conducting our race meetings in the most professional manner that we can” Thurgood said.

As per 2013 the race will be titled the Jim Anderson Earthmoving Dondingalong Off Road Challenge, and will be conducted at the dedicated Off Road racing facility located on Gowings Hill Road south west of Kempsey on the weekend of March 22/23.

The Jim Anderson Earthmoving Dondingalong Off Road Challenge will be Round 2 of the NSW Off Road Championship, Round 2 of the Off Road Warehouse Short Course Off Road Masters, and Round 1 of the East Coast Tri Challenge Series.

More information on the Jim Anderson Earthmoving Dondingalong Off Road Challenge can be accessed at www.kempseyoffroadracing.net

OFF ROAD WAREHOUSE SHORT COURSE OFF ROAD MASTERS RETURNS IN 2014

After a highly successful inaugural Series in 2013 the Off Road Warehouse Short Course Off Road Masters (ORW SCOR Masters) is back bigger and better in 2014.

The Series, that encompasses four Short Course events spread across NSW, offers an option to those competitors not looking to contest the entire state series, and brings back all the excitement of Short Course racing.

“It’s fantastic to have the Off Road Warehouse Short Course Off Road Masters returning in 2014” said Series Organiser Steve Maher.

“There was plenty of high quality racing action in the inaugural Series and I am confident we will see more of the same in 2014”.

“I am also extremely pleased to welcome back Off Road Warehouse as the Series sponsor for 2014”.

“The Off Road Warehouse principals were very pleased with the exposure and positive feedback they received from the 2013 Series and had no hesitation in signing on for another year” Maher said.

Off Road Warehouse caters for all aspects of Off Road driving and racing, with the US company establishing an outlet in Australia last year via highly respected off road racing identity Gordon Tardrew.

To contact Gordon, and source the latest Off Road Warehouse product range, go to www.orw.com.au

The inaugural ORW SCOR Masters saw Hunter Valley racer Justin Guy dominate in his Pro Buggy, winning three Rounds outright and finishing third in the other.

As part of his Series win, Guy is now entitled to free entry in each of the 2014 ORW SCOR Masters Rounds.

“While Guy dominated the inaugural Series, there were plenty of racers endeavouring to unseat him from the top of the points table. Michael Smith, Glenn Hoffman, Craig Anderson, Jarrad Eveleigh, and Derek Rose were all in the hunt towards the end of the Series”.

“The way the ORW SCOR Masters is set up it rewards consistency, and those competitors who are committed enough to front for the first Round of the Series”.

“I would therefore urge all competitors to get out into the race shed, and get busy working on their machines, as the first Round of the 2014 Series is only a month away” Maher said.

In a dramatic change from last year, the 2014 ORW SCOR Masters blasts off at Colo, just outside Sydney, on the weekend of February 22/23. Colo is normally the last Round, but this year’s date change means it kick-starts the Series.

Following Colo the ORW SCOR Masters action switches to Dondingalong in northern NSW (March 22/23) before swinging back to the south of the state and the Crookwell Round on April 26/27.

There is then a long winter break until the ORW SCOR Masters Final Round at Nabiac, just south of Taree, on October 18/19.

For all the latest news on the 2014 ORW SCOR Masters be sure to visit the Series website at www.scormasters.com

JUSTIN GUY WINS NABIAC HOTEL AIRPORT CHALLENGE

Pro Buggy racer Justin Guy, with Eric Hulme and Elizabeth Lee sharing the navigators seat, survived tough track conditions and dust to take outright victory in the 2013 Nabiac Hotel Airport Challenge held October 19/20. Guy passed early race leader David Spokes just prior to taking the last lap board, and in turn found himself passed by Paul Grant on the final lap. Guy had sufficient time up his sleeve however to cross the line behind Grant and take a slender 43 second victory after almost 3 hours of racing. It was Guy's third victory in a Round of the NSW Series this year, after winning the first two Rounds at  Dondingalong and Crookwell. Paul Grant drove a sensational race in the OZ TRUCK Extreme 2WD machine to match Guy on lap times for the majority of the race and was a serous contender for outright victory the entire race. Kempsey racer David Spokes in his Pro Buggy topped the Prologue and the Day 1 results. Spokes kept his sensational pace going Sunday to pull clear of Guy, but with one lap remaining encountered issues with the beam front end and had to back off, allowing his nearest rivals to find their way past. Spokes limped the #46 home to take 3rd outright ahead of the Scott McNeil Prolite, who was the only other serious contender for a podium finish. The tough track conditions took there toll, with just 13 of the 28 teams finishing, and only 11 completing the entire race distance. Full race report to follow. JUSTIN GUY WINS AT CROOKWELL
Justin Guy made it two NSW Championship Round victories on the trot after securing victory in the 18th annual Crookwell Gravel Pit Challenge held April 20/21. BROWNING AND CLARKE STEP UP A CLASS

Long-time Kempsey Macleay Off Road Club Sportsman racer Chris Browning, who is now based in Port Macquarie, and his Navigator Chris Clarke, are stepping up a class in 2013.

Browning and Clarke will soon be competing in the Super 1650 Class in a Buggy imported from the United States.

“We have imported a Lothringer Buggy from the US” said Chris Browning.

“We intend to run the car in Super 1650 Class. The Buggy was purchased without an engine, as it was originally set up as a US Class 10, with a B17 Honda engine that is 1700cc. We are going to run a B16 Honda that bolts straight in”.

“Chris is based in Brisbane and has been kept busy sorting out the engine and other bits and pieces. We still have to get a few frame modifications done to meet the Australian rules and get a log book issued, but it’s all coming together”.

At this stage the team is planning to run the Australian Off Road Championship Rounds at Finke (8/9 June), Coffs Harbour (14/15 September), and Lockyer Valley (26/27 October).

“We were hoping to give the car a shakedown prior to Finke. We would love to compete in the Kempsey 250 at Wittitrin but we intend to leave for Finke only a couple of days later so that’s out of the question with the new car” Browning said.

“Our #308 Sportsman Buggy is still for sale, so maybe we will get that out of the shed and give it a run in the Kempsey 250. It would be a great advertisement for the car if we got a good result, and we have been very competitive in the past”.

Supporting Browning and Clarke with their off road racing endeavours is long time sponsor Macquarie Business Accountants, and Ultra Tune Morayfield.

The #308 Sportsman Buggy is listed on the For Sale page at www.kempseyoffroadracing.net and in the Classifieds section at www.offroadracing.com.au

KEMPSEY OFF ROAD RACE UNDERGOES NAME CHANGE

Kempsey Macleay Off Road Club members are pressing ahead with plans to make their May 25/26 Round of the NSW Off Road Championship at Wittitrin bigger and better than ever before.

As part of those plans the event will operate under a different name in 2013.

“Since the first race back in 2005 the event at Wittitrin has incorporated the name encompassing the area of land the event is held on. While our members are keen to retain a link with the Wittitrin name, we have elected to go with an event title that relates directly to Kempsey” said Kempsey Macleay Off Road Club Media Representative Rod Thurgood.

“This year’s race will be known as the ‘Kempsey 250’, and will be tagged as being ‘at Wittitrin’. We are hoping the association with Kempsey via the event name will attract more spectators to our race, as the general public can better relate to the location of the event”.

As well as a change of name the event is operating under a new format, and has new key personnel in charge.

“We have dropped the total race distance back from the 300 kilometres used the past few years, to 250 kilometres. That’s where the ‘250’ in the event name comes into play. We have also made some changes to the format, with Saturday now comprising of the Prologue, a Top 10 Shootout, and one short race. The Sunday portion of the program encompasses two longer races” Thurgood said.

“Our club is hoping that the Saturday portion of the race will not see a lot of ‘wear-and-tear’ on machinery, enabling us to have almost a full field of starters on Sunday”.

“The Kempsey 250 is basically operating under a similar format to that used in a National event so it should serve up plenty of action”.

Helping oversee the running of this year’s ‘Kempsey 250’ are the husband and wife team of Grahame and Marion Baxter from the Hunter Valley. Both are vastly experienced officials, with Grahame appointed Clerk Of Course, and Marion being an Event Secretary.

“It’s great to have Grahame and Marion filling two key official roles for the ‘Kempsey 250’. Our club recognises their dedication to the sport, and very much appreciate them stepping up to assist us at what was fairly short notice”.

“We look forward to a highly successful ‘Kempsey 250’” Thurgood said.

JIM ANDERSON DOZER HIRE SPONSOR DONDINGALONG ROUND OF NSW OFF ROAD SERIES

Jim Anderson Dozer Hire has been announced as the naming rights sponsor for Round 1 of the 2013 NSW Off Road Championship to be held at Dondingalong on March 23 and 24. The event will be known as the ‘Jim Anderson Dozer Hire Dondingalong Off Road Challenge’.

Kempsey Macleay Off Road Club Media Representative Rod Thurgood said the club was very pleased to have Jim Anderson Dozer Hire supporting its event.

“It’s great to have a naming rights sponsor finalised well in advance of the Dondingalong race” Thurgood said.

“Jim Anderson Dozer Hire is based on the Mid North Coast, and Jim’s son Craig is an active member of our club, having raced a Prolite Buggy in the 2012 NSW Off Road Series, so it’s a good sponsorship ‘fit’ all round”.

“Last year’s Dondingalong race was memorable for the great wheel to wheel action served up by a strong field of competitors, so we are hoping for a repeat of that in 2013”.

“The Dondingalong venue has been around for almost 30 years and is one of the best facilities in the state, with spectators having a great view of more than half the track”.

Jim Anderson Dozer Hire is based at Coopernook on the NSW Mid North Coast, and has been operating for more than 30 years. The business has serviced the Manning & Hastings Valley areas but recently expanded its operation to incorporate the Macleay Valley, with the company playing a major role in the Kempsey Bypass that is due to open by Easter.

With more than 40 machines, including Dozers, Excavators, Graders, Bobcats, and Tippers, at its disposal, Jim Anderson Dozer Hire is capable of looking after all your building site, dam construction, land clearing, road construction, and general excavation requirements.

To contact Jim Anderson Dozer Hire telephone 0427 937 294 or 6556 3399.
